IDOT Moves Forward with Major Purchase at South Suburban Airport
CHICAGO—Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary Timothy W. Martin announced today that the Illinois Department of Transportation has closed on a major land purchase at the site of the South Suburban Airport. The 172-acre property between I-57 and IL 50 is strategically located on the entrance road to the airport.

FAA Approves IDOT's Demand Forecast for South Suburban Airport
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Department of Transportation has received approval to proceed with Master Planning for the South Suburban Airport (SSA). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sent notice it agrees with IDOT's forecast for potential market demand and that the Department may use the forecasted numbers to proceed with planning and facility requirements.

Illinois Department of Transportation and Senator Halvorson Resolve Heatherbrook Estates Issue With South Suburban Airport
SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - Springfield, IL__The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced today that it is removing Heatherbrook Estates from the list of parcels needed for the South Suburban Airport (SSA). The decision to remove Heatherbrook Estates from the layout of the SSA is a result of the Department's Master Plan discussions with state Senator Debbie DeFrancesco Halvorson (D-Crete) and residents of the Heatherbrook Estates neighborhood. The master planning process identifies the specifics of the airport, encourages community input and allows for modification of the plan.
